Due to limited space, burial in one of the Iowa Hill Cemeteries is limited to people who have a connection to the Iowa Hill community. Both whole body and cremains burials are accepted. While there is no fixed fee for a grave site, donations are appreciated. There is a separate cost for the labor involved in opening and closing a grave, especially n the case of a whole body burial. The minimum suggested donation for a whole body burial is $500 and $200 for cremains. The cost to open and close a grave for a whole body burial is $250 and $75 for cremains.
For local veterans who have been cremated and whose cremains have been scattered elsewhere, a cenotaph can be created using a marker from the Veteran's Administration or a standard gravestone provided by the family (a cenotaph is an "empty tomb" or a monument erected in honor of a person or group of people whose remains are elsewhere). There is no charge to install these markers. A cenotaph for a veteran allows his/her service to be honored with an American flag on Veteran's Day and Memorial Day.
